I woke up this morning and could hear the patter of rain on the window. I covered my head and thought, for the love of all that is holy are we going to have any warm weather this spring!? You know, one of the last times we had a super bright sunny day was the Solar Eclipse?
And the moon went and covered it up.
I was really hoping for a weekend with some sunshine and warmer temperatures.
It’s put a real damper on my gardening plans so I’ve lit a fire and I’m in a cozy little nook writing this newsletter to you. And I’m reflecting about how much of our daily lives are planned around the weather. From how we decide to dress in the morning right down to what we might be able to accomplish in a day (or not accomplish, as in the case of my gardens).
Maybe you wanted to golf today? Too windy. Wear a t-shirt? Too cold. Cut the grass? Too wet. Take the dog for a hike? Too muddy. You get the idea. So many decisions are made from the moment you get up and look out the window.
And so, one coffee in, with unwavering positivity, I’m choosing to see the good in the rain. April showers bring all that lush green goodness we wait all winter for. Also as a friend pointed out, there are places in the world with constant sun that pray for the rain to come.
You know what having a rainy day is perfect for? Being in the kitchen. And taking a nap. Reading a book. Cleaning the house. Watching movies.
I guess in many ways it’s giving me exactly what the Universe knew I needed this weekend.
Have a great week friends.

I’m editing to add that later afternoon the glorious sun came out! Such a welcome surprise!
I had a deeeelicious Roasted Vegetable Quiche on a girls trip last summer. It was from a very unique organic cafe smack dab in the middle of Duncan BC. I liked it so much I took a picture of the ingredient list to save for making at home. Well here we are with my version, which is pretty darn close. If you do a little preplanning you can have roasted vegetables for supper one night and use the leftovers for this crustless quiche the next! I was really happy to have these leftovers for lunch.
